# Data retention

> How long Get2Dial keeps recordings, CDRs, voicemail, and audit logs by default, and what a workspace can configure.

Get2Dial's default retention design keeps call detail records, recordings, voicemail, and
audit logs for at least 365 days each, managed by Get2Dial rather than self-service.

<Note>
  Retention is platform-managed, not a workspace setting — there's no screen in Get2Dial where
  you set or view your own retention period. If your obligations require a specific retention
  or deletion schedule, discuss it with your account team.
</Note>

## How it works

Each data category — call detail records, recordings, voicemail, agent state history, and
audit logs — has its own default retention period, currently 365 days, after which Get2Dial's
policy is to retain rather than delete: nothing is purged automatically by default. Audit logs
specifically can never have a shorter retention than the platform default, for any workspace —
that floor isn't adjustable, by you or by Get2Dial on your request.

<Note>
  Confirmed directly against production (2026-08-18): automatic archival and purging are not
  running for any workspace today. Every storage class is still in its shipped-inert state,
  and no workspace has a retention override in place. If a specific retention or deletion
  schedule matters for your compliance obligations, treat it as a support conversation, not
  something the product is currently doing on your behalf.
</Note>

## When to use it

You don't configure this — it's here so you can answer a customer, auditor, or security
questionnaire about how long your data is kept, and know where the boundary of your control
is.

## What it affects

* **Call detail records** — see [Search call detail records](/reports/call-detail-records).
* **Recordings** — see [Find and play call recordings](/reports/call-recordings).
* **Audit logs** — see [Search the audit log](/account/audit-log).
